Policies database

The IEA’s Policies and Measures Database provides access to information on past, existing or planned government policies and measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve energy efficiency and support the development and deployment of renewables and other clean energy technologies.

This unique policy database captures in the same place regulations, government spending programmes and trade policies by bringing together regular updates from IEA’s State of Energy Policies, along with information on methane abatement, critical minerals policies and carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS).

This policy information has been collected since 1999 from governments, partner organisations and IEA analysis. The IEA bears full responsible for generating and showing the information in the database, and governments are asked to review the policy information at least once annually.

Although all care has been taken to ensure accuracy, completeness and clarity of content in these databases, this does not represent a complete listing of all energy related policies in the region or country covered. For various reasons information can be difficult to find or confirm, and some information is subject to the translator's discretion.
