Notes

CDD = cooling degree days (reference temperature 21°C). Degree days are the number of degrees by which the average daily temperature is higher than the chosen standard temperature, usually 16°C or 18°C (CDDs) or lower than the chosen standard temperature (HDDs). The more extreme the outside temperature, the higher the number of degree days. A high number of degree days generally results in higher levels of energy use for space heating or cooling. Degree days reflect changes in climate and are used as a proxy for the energy demand for heating or cooling buildings.
